Class Experience

For learners still learning the alphabet, this is an awesome way to learn how each of the letters sound, how letters blend, how to identify big and small letters, and even how to practice writing the letters. Pokemon names will be taught in various ways, including being broken down by syllable, to practice pronunciation.

For learners familiar with the alphabet and needing practice, this will be a great way to practice writing letters and also reading the different Pokemon names. If you've ever seen some Pokemon names, they definitely challenge our learners to make the proper sound for each syllable.

Each week will introduce 5-6 letters, with an additional focus on short and long vowel sounds and soft and hard consonants. What makes it so much fun is Pokemon names are creative and diverse! Also, there's a big difference in sounds between Cinderace (soft "c") and Caterpie (hard "c"), so we’ll learn these sounds too!

Students will have lots of fun while I share the Pokémon through a presentation, as well as testing their knowledge through Kahoot quizzes assigned after class.
Students will receive worksheets to practice each letter creatively through tracing and coloring. I will ask learners to submit a picture of their work in the classroom, so I can give feedback. Students will also participate in discussion questions in the classroom. Extension: A video that includes them pronouncing each name would be fun to receive extra feedback from me!

Depending on how much time your learner spends on each letter after each video, they will need to dedicate some time to accomplishing the learner goals outlined in the description (average: 1-2 hours a week aside from the videos).
Student progressed will be assessed through our interactive quizzes. This makes quizzes actually FUN! Students will see it as a trivia, while we see it as their assessment.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental guidance may be needed to navigate the quizzes.
