In this one-time Pokemon-inspired grammar class, students will learn how to identify and sort nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Through the use of both group and individual work, students will identify these three common parts of speech, sort into proper categories, and create a class word bank. As a final class activity to demonstrate understanding, students will complete a Pokemon-Inspired cut and paste activity. Class Structure • Students are guided through several Pokemon-Inspired activities to recognize and identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives. • As a group, students will color code nouns, verbs, and adjectives prior to sorting • Finally, to demonstrate mastery, students will classify these three parts of speech by cutting, pasting, and sorting to the proper category. (Instructor Led) The instructor will guide students through the sorting steps. Students should be able to read one and two-syllable words to successfully complete this class. As always, students may participate in their individual comfort levels. Students should have basic cutting and pasting skills for this class. If your student is not capable of cutting independently, please be present to assist during this portion of our class. Students may also cut pieces prior to our class.
Learning Goals
Students will sort, classify, and demonstrate an understanding of verbs, nouns, and adjectives. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when sorting these three parts of speech.

My educational goal is to enable your student to become engaged in grammar through a common theme - Pokemon. By tapping into your learner's Pokemon enthusiasm, they are active and engaged in their learning process. I have taught over 4,000 Outschool students, and logged more than 800 Outschool teaching hours, in engaging, educational, and inspiring themed English Language courses. I am a certified Tennessee K-6th grade teacher. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English, Communications, and Print Media. You will find more about my Outschool teaching journey on various media outlets, including CBS New York, Business Insider, and the American Board for Teacher Excellence.
I am a believer in a hands-on approach to teaching. Students learn when they are deeply engaged in the learning process. I have found that Outschool students learn best when they are reading, writing, talking about their passions. Students learn so much from each other, and I believe that an Outschool classroom is an excellent example of where unique learning takes place.
