There are over 1,000 monsters in the world of Pokémon, but who says there can't be more? That's what this class is all about! Each week in this ongoing class, learners will be given a prompt to design their very own Pokémon, which they'll then be encouraged to share with their classmates at the end of class. Each week, class will follow the same structure listed below: - Introducing the prompt (ex. A fire-type Pokémon based on a reptile) - Brainstorming Pokémon ideas as a group - Individual illustration time - Sharing art with the class Students are encouraged to ask for help with their art when they need to, as well as discuss with their classmates and the instructor any ideas they may have. This class is specifically designed to allow learners to create the art that they are interested in making, rather than be given step-by-step instructions on how to recreate already existing Pokémon designs. The Pokémon prompts we'll be covering fall on the following schedule: Week of November 19: A past paradox Pokémon based on a fighting-type. Week of November 26: A future paradox Pokémon based on a psychic-type. Week of December 3: A Pokémon that is both bug-type and dragon-type. Week of December 10: A water-type Pokémon based on marine life. Week of December 17: A Pokémon that is inspired by a real life object. Learners are more than welcome to suggest future prompts in the classroom, or via Outschool message!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to apply creative design choices to their art, as well as learn to master the illustration style put forth by the Pokémon animated series.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Art is a lifelong passion, and my journey with art started in middle school. I have worked in many different media, but my favorites are sketching, drawing, and photography. I’ve been keeping sketchbooks for nearly 20 years, and they’ve helped me document my journey with art, as well as important milestones in my life. I want to help learners find their artistic passion and help them do the same.
