Did you know their is an actual GAME to the Pokémon Trading Card Game? It might sound strange but I'm not even kidding! Kids get so worried about the how cool their Pokémon cards look, that you spend so much money on, instead of worry about what all of the numbers, words, and symbols on the cards actually mean. In this class we will take a step back and learn how to play the game by creating a 60 card deck using cards you probably already have. Did you know that a deck needs Pokémon, trainer cards, and energy cards? Yes, energy cards are super important! We will also show students how to create game boards on their own that can be used to play with their friends outside of this class. We will also learn the rules and have practice battles in class. ***CLASS STRUCTURE AND EXAMPLE TOPICS*** We use slides to guide each class in a smooth and organized way. Each class starts with the Team Meeting and Life Lesson of the Day. You can read more about those on my teaching profile. Here is a sample class: -Team Meeting and Life Lesson of the Day. -History of the Pokémon Trading Card Game -Rules of the Pokémon Trading Card Game -Putting a 60 Card Deck Together -Creating a Game Board -Lets Play! Practice playing the Pokémon Trading Card game! -Pokémon Watch Along Segment -Trivia session Other Reoccurring Segments -Pokémon Math (although math will come into play each class!) -Pokémon Joke of the Week -Video Game Review ***CLASS INSPIRATION*** When I was a kid I bought a box about the size of a book from K-Mart. Inside it had a Pokémon deck, rule books, a coin with Zapdos, and a CD. That CD was a computer game that I took home a plugged into out home PC. That CD was an instructional CD-ROM that taught you how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game. I had only ever traded cool looking cards with friends but the actual game turned out to be so much more fun!! Suddenly I was playing all of the time and showing my friends how to play with the cards we had been collecting. I lost that CD years ago but now because of Outschool The Pokémon Trading Card Game is back and better than ever! ***COST AND COUPONS*** Everyone gets the first class they take with me for free! 🏈🎸🎫🎮👫***ABOUT ME***✈️🌎🏜🗻🌆 🏝
Welcome to my page, and thanks for checking it out! I’m an elementary classroom teacher by day and teach adult education classes at a local community college a few nights a week. In my free time, I love teaching on Outschool, where I can share my knowledge and passions with students.
Math is my jam, but I also teach science, social studies, language, reading, and writing. Outschool gives me the added bonus of creating classes about things I’m passionate about, and I enjoy using that flexibility to bring unique experiences into my teaching.
I spent seven years coaching high school football as both an assistant and head coach. Now that I’ve stepped away from coaching, my wife and I have been traveling more, and Outschool lets me take work on the road while incorporating those adventures into my classes. My goal is to help young people prepare for life, both in academics and beyond.
I’m a huge wrestling fan and bring that passion to my Wrestling Talk Team class. I also keep up with NFL news year-round and combine that with math in my Football News and Math Reviews class. Another passion of mine is personal finance—I love teaching young people about budgeting, saving, investing, and more in my Young Adult Survival Guide.
I’m always brainstorming new ways to help students, so come join the TEAM and let’s learn together!

🔨✂️📖***LIFE LESSON OF THE DAY***📖✂️🔨
In my classes and on the field I want my students and players to get better at what we are trying to do but I am ultimately concerned with how they develop as people and that they are as prepared for life as possible. That is why I teach my classes in an energetic, personable, passionate, and charismatic way that will keep learners engaged but also work on social skills. I take pride in helping students become better people. Each class will always we will include a short Life Lesson of the Day and Learn From Others Lesson of the Day at the beginning of class. These are short quotes from Horace Jackson Brown Jr.'s books on life lessons. We usually only use a minute or two on these but I believe they are vital. Here are a few examples:
-"Take out the trash without being told."
-"Control what you can control."
-"Be the first to complement the meal when a guest in someone's home."
-"Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you have not planted"
-"Be the first to say hello."
-"Life is like a football game: you can't score without help from others."
-"The greatest wealth is contentment."
-"Never shake a hand while sitting down."
-"You can sleep late but the world doesn't."
-"Life seems to reward those who take one more step when they think they can't."
