Class Experience

During this one-time class, students will learn to draw Charizard using shapes and following a step-by-step process.

We will sketch using a pencil first, then edit with an eraser, and refine with either pencil or pen for the final outline. If time allows, students may color their work with colored pencil, markers, pens, and/ or crayons. During the class, we will talk about our favorite Pokémon and socialize.

This is a class for beginners, so no prior knowledge is necessary. These are the same drawing techniques used by professional artists, but I will simplify the techniques and style for the age group in class and introduce these techniques in a subject matter the students love.

Two cameras will be used during class so students can watch the teacher draw by hand and follow along. Students will have the option to share their drawing during class, to get help or just to show off their awesome Charizard!

Students may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or if other students are talking. Parents, please show your learner how to unmute themselves when they are ready to talk.

I hold a Bachelors in Fine Art from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and am a former public school art teacher. I love teaching drawing, painting, sculpture and Photoshop to learners of all ages. I've been teaching for 20+ years and running my own piano studio for 10+ years. There's a special place in my heart for creative works and the artists that make them, especially fantasy stories and narrative artworks, comics and graphic novels.
