Class Experience

"Team Rocket wants revenge, this time on the Johto Region. We need skilled trainers to stop them. Are you up for the challenge?"

Students are immersed in the world of Pokemon and tasked to solve varying puzzles in order to put a stop to Team Rocket's plans. The escape room is a total of 8 puzzles, with participants being required to enter the correct password before they can proceed to the next clue. Puzzle types include riddles, numerical codes, picture clues, and several others all centered around Pokemon.

Class Structure:
5 min: Students introduce themselves to the class and present their favorite Pokemon. Expectations and rules are established for the escape room.
40-45 min: Students will enter the escape room, working together to solve the puzzles. The teacher will host the escape room through screen sharing the main screen. The teacher will provide support to students throughout the game, intervening as necessary, providing assistance and support for students to solve the puzzles.
(If time permits) 5 min: If escape room was not completed, teacher will provide logic necessary to solve riddles. Students will debrief with instructor and discuss what puzzles were most difficult and what thought processes were used to solve varying puzzles.

All you will need to accomplish these puzzles is knowledge of the Johto Region and the new 100 Johto Pokemon! It is NOT required that you complete Pokemon Escape Room #1 before joining this escape room.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Outschool families! My name is Anthony Easton. I’m an experienced K-12 educator. I specialize in health and wellness education, mathematics education, and logic/puzzles--especially escape rooms. I am a proud Pokemon and Star Wars fan, and I design my lessons around popular topics to get students engaged with learning.

Originally from the Los Angeles suburbs, I moved to Indiana for graduate school at the Indiana University School of Public Health and have made the Midwest home! I completed my Master of Public Health degree in 2018. I also hold a K-12 Physical Education and a 5-12 Health Education charter teaching license in the State of Indiana and a BA in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.

A little bit about my background & expertise:
I have a year of full-time teaching (physical education and reading) experience at a K-2 charter school in urban Indianapolis, a year of full-time substitute teaching experience in public high schools in suburban Los Angeles, and two years experience of teaching public health to over 2,000 freshmen and sophomores at Indiana University.

I have also completed multiple part time or internship roles with K-12 students. To highlight just a few: a two-year-long internship working with middle school students on health and wellness in rural Indiana, a year-long internship teaching nutrition and fitness to 4th graders in suburban Indiana, and two summers experience as a middle grades camp counselor (focused on health and wellness) in San Diego.

Additionally, I managed a K-8 math tutoring business from 2010 until 2015, working with dozens of California students on mathematics and logic.

I was raised by two career educators in the California public school system. Innovative, engaging teaching runs in my blood! Please send me a note if you have any questions! I’m always open to designing new courses or catering my existing courses to different age groups.
