Students will learn and practice the basic creative writing fundamentals needed in every written story. These include point of view, paragraphs, and dialogue. Students will grow more comfortable with writing and after the class ends, they will have the skills to write their own stories. Since this is a beginner-intermediate class, students will not be graded on their writing skills. However, I will check to make sure they are properly applying the skills taught each. For example, I will check to make sure they are properly using first person perspective or that they are formatting their dialogue correctly. 

I received my minor in creative writing from Indiana University Northwest. During my time there, I took many writing workshops and honed my skills. Several of my short stories have been published in independent zines. I also have experience with writing and revising a novel. I am currently a mentee for Avengers of Color where a published author is mentoring me. I also am very knowledgeable about the writing industry and what it takes to improve one's creative writing.
