This is an on-going art and social club for learners who like Pokémon and art! Each week we'll create a new drawing, while interacting and discussing Pokémon! Our drawings will only require simple materials: paper, a pencil with eraser and something to color with. I will initially be visible so that students can see me speaking. Then I will switch to a document camera so learners can see me drawing. This will allow learners to follow along with my live instructions. I break each step down. In this class, we'll focus mostly on simpler, basic Pokemon, so artists of all levels are welcome! Students can replicate my creation or add their own unique elements, with some ideas discussed as we create. After completing our drawing, students will begin coloring or painting in their drawing. Throughout the class, students will have the opportunity to share their creations with the other club members, but it will not be required. I give consistent encouragement to build confidence in young artists. 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼! My name is Colleen, or Mrs. Smith, and I am excited to work with your student in my online classroom! I have been teaching on Outschool since September 2021 and am thrilled to continue this journey.
My Outschool offerings encompass two distinctive fields:
1) 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: I was a commercial banker for three years and enjoyed a ten-year corporate buying career. During that time, I had the opportunity to train many people on using Microsoft Excel and other relevant programs. I was also able to volunteer in a high school classroom, teaching financial literacy to students. For the past 3+ year, I have been teaching these skills and concepts to students on Outschool. It is such a pleasure to see students master these important life skills.
2) 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗸é𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: As a child, my favorite subject was art, and I continued taking art classes in college and as an adult. My own children, aged 9, 6, and 4 years, share my love of art, and for the past four years, I have enjoyed staying at home with my them. Their specific interests are Pokémon and animals, and in turn I have a true appreciation for these subjects!
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲?
My classes are very interactive, with many opportunities for participation. However, I understand that some learners prefer to listen. I am always willing to adjust my classes to fit everyone's needs. My classes will always have real-life examples that are relatable to students. I want students to be happy with their work and interested in what they're learning, so questions and sharing are welcome and encouraged!
