Class Experience

In this class, students will look at a family or group of Pokémon species. In this particular lesson, students will study Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard. We will examine the Pokémons' names, appearance, abilities, and any other information found in a number of Pokémon games in order to determine how each Pokémon is inspired by and relates to real life. The main goal of this class is to discover the inspiration behind the Pokémon and learn about the characteristics of their real-world counterparts, such as diet, behavior, habitat, unique processes that drive them, and any other fun facts. This will give students a diverse look at many of Earth's plant and animal species. While this class focuses on biology, other scientific studies may also be used, such as ecology, chemistry, paleontology, etc. The class will be taught primarily using slides themed around the PokéDex technology found in the games and TV shows, and students are encouraged to share their ideas of how the creatures relate to the real world. All that is required beforehand is a love for Pokémon! The rest of the information will be properly introduced.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everyone, I'm Brayden. I recently graduated as the valedictorian of my class, while simultaneously obtaining my Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. I have been accepted into the Honors College of Cleveland State University, where I plan to study biomedical engineering, due to my interest and excellence in many math and science subjects. For several years, I have utilized this passion to tutor many students in these subjects, both as a paid position and as a volunteer as a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to my love for science, I also have a love for all kinds of books, movies, TV shows, and video games. I would like to use this knowledge and combine my areas of expertise to create classes that use the worlds and characters students love to help teach them about subjects in math or science that might otherwise be seen as difficult or uninteresting. I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge with students on the Outschool platform.
