In this class we will explore the artist Seurat and recreate his painting The Seine (From La Grande Jatte) using acrylic paint. Students will have fun learning about Seurat and creating their own pointillism painting inspired by his work.

Class Experience

In this one time class we will talk briefly about Georges Seurat as an artist, we will discuss his piece called The Seine (from La Grande Jatte), and then students will create their own The Seine masterpiece using acrylic or tempera paint. We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up. The students will be able to create their piece based on Seurat's painting but in their own style and with their own personality and creativity.

0Each learner will need: 
- A set of acrylic or tempera paints 
- Q-tips or similar
- A cup with water 
- Set of crayons (or oil pastels)
- Heavy white paper (watercolor or mixed media paper is preferred but not completely necessary) 
- Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc). 
- A smock or old t-shirt (especially if using acrylics....they don't come out of clothes very easily!)

Parents are encouraged to be close by during the class to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints stay on the paper.
