Calling all poets! Join this one-session class and dive into an exercise in creating original metaphors and similes. We will begin by reviewing each of these poetic techniques, view some examples, and then follow creative prompts to create fun and unusual comparisons in a short poem. Lastly, your learner will read it out loud for me, and I will do the same. If anyone would like extra feedback, they can submit their poems to me for my comments. This class will be a mix instructor knowledge and tips through slides, introducing "metaphor dice," interacting with each other, and then enjoying a mini open mic with me. YES! I write the exercises with my learners. Students of all levels are welcome as I will be providing prompts for each individual student to shuffle through and create their own personal metaphors and similes. I am a positive and passionate instructor who believes that a writer is one who writes! All that is required is a genuine interest in poetry writing. Come with an open and creative mind to enjoy this special way to unlock the imagination. If you don't see a time that works for you, click the "Show Alternate Times" or "Request a Private Class" button. I am flexible and happy to accommodate your schedule.
