Class Experience

Students will know how to identify an animal poem. They will be able to follow the writing process to write object poems including; Brainstorming, Planning, Writing, Editing, and Sharing.
I have taught poetry writing to elementary students for over a decade. I believe in reading poetry, modeling, discussing, and having student examples be part of every class. The culminating poetry celebration is a great way for students to feel proud of their work and share their favorite poems.
Students will asked to continue to work on their poetry outside of class.
Students will need pencils and the documents posted to the class page.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
During the class, I will observe each student's thoughts and ideas during discussions to see if they demonstrate understanding of animal poetry. I will also be observing their understanding of the writing process.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
