#Poetry Magician: Awaken the Word Wizard in You (8-13)
In this class, we will meet each week to listen to and write different styles of poetry by using our imaginations and a variety of techniques that will inspire creativity, a love for writing, and freedom to share opinions through writing.

Beginner Level
This fun and engaging course is designed to inspire your child's natural imagination while equipping them with tools to become better readers and creative writers. Poetry connects children to the importance of writing, reading, and learning by relying on their thoughts, feelings, and ideas to express themselves. We will be reading and writing poems of different genres each week. Your child will learn more about sounds in words and how to identify sounds in words and word families through rhyming poems. They will also develop editing skills by learning to revise ideas and develop more precise language. By making new connections between words, students will grow their vocabulary.
Learning Goals
Students will improve and use these language skills: critical thinking, analytical thinking, creative thinking, creative writing, public speaking, active listening, and supporting ideas and opinions.
