Intermediate Level
The poetic genius of the people of Southeast Asia highlights the imaginative, creative and transformative power of words in a region relatively new to the English language. Yet, poetry transcends cultural and linguistic barriers and creates cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of all things beautiful. Join us, as we discuss the poems of Tagore and Naidu in a non-argumentative, socratic seminar style discussion. Class will begin with a look at the regional geography, terms in use, biography of poets and then take a look at the poems and immense detail in Rabindranath Tagore's, 'Where the Mind is Without Fear' and Sarojini Naidu's, ' Coromandel Fishers'. *Minimum of 4 students needed to have session.
