Class Experience

Rebekah:
I love asking “what if __?” Come explore hands-on science experiments with me. I also have a love for math, especially math games. Join me as we make math fun! Many parents and learners appreciate the way I bring laughter and excitement to the classroom. I have been an educator for 10 years: both in online ESL and as a Kindergarten teacher. I started teaching with Outschool in June 2020. I live with my husband and my 2 young daughters (Ages 2 and 5). We enjoy getting a little messy and taking walks together.

Rachel:
I have been an educator for the last 13 years, and started teaching on the Outschool platform in January of 2021. I have spent time with every age group from preschoolers all the way up to high school-aged students. I spent 5 years teaching special education as a paraprofessional in the public school system. In that role I worked with students in kindergarten through third grade, helping them find their best way to learn in all subject areas. I love being an educator! I believe that every child is unique and should be encouraged to learn in the way that is best for them. Every child deserves respect, understanding, and patience. I strive to make learning fun and engaging for my students as I help to create a solid educational foundation.

Mary Ann:
I am a certified K-12 teacher with a specialty in Reading. Over the past 20 years, I have taught in public, private, homeschool, and online school settings. I run a very structured classroom with continuous student engagement that makes learning fun! This reading class is ideal for learners who aren’t reading yet but are showing interest, as well as those students who have learned some sounds and possibly some beginning reading skills but need to continue to build a strong foundation for reading. I started teaching with Outschool in May 2020. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two children ages 15 and 6, and our miniature schnauzer, Magnolia.

Miss Pam:
I was formally trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto with my instrument being Piano. I fell in love with teaching elementary music when my children were younger. I owned and operated my own Kindermusik business for 5 years. I have been teaching elementary music for over 25 years in various settings. I started teaching with Outschool in June 2020. I firmly believe exposing children to music at a young age enhances their social development, language skills and imagination. Seeing the light in a child’s eyes and their body moving to the beat of the music is very fulfilling and allows me to say - Teaching music is a fun job! In my class we will be singing and dancing to fun songs. Each week we will also have a craft that will help develop our fine motor skills.

Evelyn:
I am a bilingual Spanish teacher who has been teaching 10 years, online teaching for 4. I started teaching with Outschool in August 2020. I’m a mom of 4 and I am raising my kids to be bilingual. I love making class fun and interesting for my students. I will be teaching a fun, interactive Spanish course.
There will be some printouts. You will also need generic craft supplies (pencils, markers, glue, scissors, colored paper, empty toilet paper tube, etc). If the class needs more specific supplies, the list will be posted a week in advance in case there is something you do not have in the house. Since these classes are for young learners, having an adult nearby to assist as needed would be helpful, but see what they can do on their own.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
