Pods: Phonics and Science of Reading Unit 2: CVC Words (SOR)
Students will progress through the alphabet in alphabetical order and this curriculum is designed to give students a solid foundation in phonemic awareness, letter sounds, word building, and decodable reading. and handwriting. US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This fun, hands-on and fun-filled course provides students will the foundation skills and practice to help them become amazing readers. Students will practice skills as a class, in small groups, and individually to Students will learn phonemic awareness, letter sounds, word building, and decodable reading using Guided Phonics + Beyond Curriculum. This curriculum uses the Science of Reading (SOR) practices, which are heavily researched by educators, and proven to be highly effective. Students will use a combination of movement, kinesthetics, manipulatives and paper materials (Sound Card Drills, Focus Skill Decodable Mats, Blending Drills, Word Mapping, Dictation Practice, Decodable Pre-Reading, Decodable Readers, Rime Hunts, Vocabulary Practice Sheets, Word Chains Mats, Word Match-Up Cards, Vowel Sticks, Handwriting Mats, and Alphabet Charts). These whole-class activities help students build a reading foundation by practicing phonemic awareness, phonics skills, decodable High Frequency Words, Irregular High Frequency Words, and Vocabulary. Please note: this class is part of the Outschool Pods program and is intended to build learner community this semester.
