Class Experience

Podcasting

Welcome to Mr. G’s two day and two class sessions on creating a podcast. Have you ever wanted to create a podcast, but not sure how to get started? Well, then this is the class for you.

In the podcasting class we cover how to create a podcast that can be sent out to the various libraries, and how to write episodes for the podcast. The class will cover how to set up the entire shell of the podcast from creating a title, writing a podcast show description, uploading logo art, and setting the podcast up for episodes. The podcasting class also covers the technology in creating a podcast through Spotify/Riverside, Youtube, and recording software (GarageBand for Mac’s and Audacity free download for Mac or PC). The technology that we use are not the only podcasting software, programs, and apps out there. More and more are becoming available all the time. The software that our class highlights and teaches is free and/or requires registration (but there is no cost). The class will cover the technology of podcasting software from step-by-step on how to use it in recording, video, and editing. Learners are able to learn how to write, record, edit, and publish episodes for their podcast. Throughout the two classes we also cover techniques and methods for writing (language arts) as well as public speaking (delivery).

Class One/Day One:
Introduction into podcasting all and especially the technology. Start brainstorming on the title, ideas for episodes, and podcasting template. Start to explore podcasting technology. Homework to create a title, start writing podcast descriptions, ideas for episodes, and a sample recording for our second class.

Class Two/Day Two:
The second class we will cover the various work that learners were able to complete. We will take a deeper dive into the technology, software, editing, the writing, recording, and delivery. Listen to any sample recordings and help prepare students to have a finished or a close to finished podcast show and setup.

Academic Skills:
Technology, Career and Technical Education (CTE) - STEM, Writing (Language Arts/English), and Public Speaking
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to learn how to create, write, and delivery a podcast of their own interest and genre.
