Class Experience

Students will learn how to graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real-world and mathematical problems.

Students will understand the number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system.
Students will understand how to plot a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates.
Students will understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis.

Students will use real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
I love teaching graphing and will offer a more challenging graphing course after students have completed this course which will have students use Minecraft Worlds to find coordinate points. I am an experienced teacher and have taught STEAM courses, elementary grades and middle school sciences.
Homework is in the form of a challenge or game to solve. It shouldn't take more than an hour and will be direct practice from what was taught that day.
Practice problem sheets and challenges will be provided by the teacher. Students will need to have graph paper for practice.(1/4 inch)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The teacher will do frequent learner checks to make sure that the students understand each concept.
The students will submit work after the lesson that will be reviewed by the teacher and feedback will be given in a timely fashion.
The end project will be reviewed by the teacher will direct feedback given.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
