US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This class is an ongoing practice session for students who have already started learning to read CVC words. If your child does not yet know how to read CVC words at all, I recommend starting with one of my Beginning Phonics-CVC courses for a thorough introduction: https://outschool.com/classes/beginning-phonics-cvc-Rqh3tNlP?usid=UxC7gByg&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link https://outschool.com/classes/beginning-phonics-cvc-week-long-camp-version-KhxyFoyS?usid=UxC7gByg&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Students should already know the sounds of each letter of the alphabet, including all short vowel sounds; however each week we will review one short vowel sound that the students should already know prior to enrollment in this course. CVC words are three-letter words with a consonant, a vowel, and then a consonant. The vowel makes a short vowel sound. Each week we will review a different short vowel sound, and then play a different game that allows students to practice reading words with all vowel sounds through play. Week 1: Short A. The teacher will review the short a sound. Students will practice reading a few short a words such as dad, cat, man, bag, and nap. We will then play a game practicing reading CVC words with all short vowel sounds. Week 2: Short E. The teacher will review the short e sound. Students will practice reading a few short e words such yet, hen, peg, and web. We will then play a game practicing reading CVC words with all short vowel sounds. Week 3: Short I. The teacher will review the short i sound. Students will practice reading a few short i words such as him, pit, kid, and big. We will then play a game practicing reading CVC words with all short vowel sounds. Week 4: Short O. The teacher will review the short o sound. Students will practice reading a few short o words such as cod, jog, top, and fox. We will then play a game practicing reading CVC words with all short vowel sounds. Week 5: Short U. The teacher will review the short u sound. Students will practice reading a few short u words such as mud, hug, run, and pup. We will then play a game practicing reading CVC words with all short vowel sounds.

Colorado Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! I am so excited to teach your child. I teach preschool and early elementary reading classes, and flexible schedule cooking classes. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University. I taught in Elementary Schools for 4 years before choosing to stay home with my daughters, where I spend a lot of time cooking and baking. I also spent a few months in Brazil where I taught English classes to children and adults. I love making learning fun! I look forward to seeing your child in my Outschool classroom!
