Playing With Autumn Words and Rhythm Sticks

This playful class promotes reading readiness by encouraging the students to develop their abilities to break autumn themed words into chunks or syllables. The use of rhythm sticks to achieve this purpose keeps the class fun and lively.

Class Experience

Set of rhythm sticks. These can be as simple as a set of dowels about 1/2" in diameter and 12" long. Actual sets of rhythm sticks can be purchased at a music store or online. If you have a set of drum sticks sitting around, they can also be used, although I've found them to be a little long in some cases. Two sticks from outside can work but they produce a much softer sound, which may not be as "rewarding" for the student.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
