Welcome to Playing the Piano - First Steps! This introductory course explores the basics of the keyboard. Students will recognize and identify notes and patterns on the keyboard, practice using piano finger numbers on and off the keyboard and take turns playing some simple melodies and songs. I will model the tasks for the student and then students will get a turn individually to practice the concept. This class is designed for those students who have no prior experience with playing the piano. Upon completion of this course, students can continue their studies in an 8-week piano course using the same text book. Thank you for your interest!
Learning Goals
Students will learn finger numbers, play simple melodies using piano finger numbers, learn how to count basic rhythms (quarter notes, half notes and whole notes) and identify loud and soft sounds.

Students should purchase: Piano Adventures lesson book Primer Level 2nd Edition (ISBN: 978-1-61677-075-4) Price: Students should have access to a piano or keyboard for the course. It is helpful for students to have a phone/tablet holder or stand so I can see their hands while playing the piano.
