I will introduce your learner to the Minecraft: Education Edition (MCEE) programming curriculum. In this one time course, I will show how to use the WASD keys on the keyboard to navigate the world, introduce the MakeCode editor, introduce the agent and basic agent moves, introduce problem decomposition as a problem-solving strategy, and show how sequencing (the order that the code is written) affects program outputs. I have a masters degree in computer science and a bachelors degree in applied mathematics and computational science. I am named in two patents related to digital signage technology, I have published a couple of papers using computer science and machine learning to solve challenges in environmental science and medicine. I have also had some experience in the video game industry as a developer and tester.
This class is currently available only on PC, iPad, chromebook, macbook, and windows laptops.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Formative assessment: I will provide feedback during and after the lesson to your learner, the goal will be to improve the students achievement within Minecraft and to guide them in the journey learning how to code.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
