Class Experience

Piano Lessons your kids will LOVE! In this class students will journey through their piano lessons in a fun and playful way that will include stories, games, songs and movement to reinforce the concepts learned! They will receive instruction from a teacher who is experienced, joyful, kind and encouraging.
***Though students are encouraged to complete the pre-reading class, it is absolutely possible to join this class with no previous piano experience as concepts from that will be reviewed before beginning moving to reading on the grand staff.

Students will continue to learn:
* Correct position at the piano and posture
* Keyboard Geography: how to find and recognize the keys on the piano
* Finger numbers and how they relate to playing on the piano
* Sounds on the piano, high/low, forte/piano, long/short
* Many songs to play on the piano by rote and by reading
* Patterns and melody
*Note reading on the music staff

Students will meet each week for 30 minutes and each lesson will include time spent at the piano learning and playing as well as some movement and singing activities to reinforce concepts and keep learners engaged. A small homework/practice assignment will be given each week at the end of class.

Students should have a piano or a minimum 61 key keyboard to learn and practice on and small amount of daily practice is recommended for progression. Students will need the Wunderkeys Primer One book available on Amazon.com

Welcome! I'm Teacher Michelle and I absolutely LOVE sharing the joy of making music. 💛

It's my desire to nurture confidence, creativity and community through innovative piano lessons and music classes.

My focus is on growing happy, creative, well-educated musicians and making the experience of learning joyful, magical and easy as possible!

I want learners to feel important and find new avenues with which to express themselves while experiencing the magic of making music with others.

My Background: From the moment I taught my first Early Childhood Music Class in 1998, I knew teaching was my calling and I have never looked back. In 2001, I started my own music studio and have been teaching preschool music classes, group piano lessons, private piano lessons and even ukulele classes!

My Education: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and am a Music for Young Children Certified Teacher as well as an Advanced Piano Specialist with the Royal Conservatory of Music. I am also a Pro Certified Online Teacher with Teach Music Online.

When I'm not teaching you'll find me baking, running with my dogs, spending time with my family or cooking up more creative and fun ideas for teaching.
