Class Experience

Do you have a child who loves playing around on the piano? Come try out this one time class to see piano lessons are right for them! In this class, students will learn about correct posture and position, explore musical sound opposites such as high/low, loud/quiet and short/long on the piano. They will learn their piano finger numbers and explore beat and rhythm while improvising on black keys. Fun songs, chants, stories and games reinforce musical content and help us remember the musical knowledge we gain. This class is intended for children with no previous piano experience.
Class will begin with a get to know you time. We will sing a hello song and learn about high and low sounds on the piano as well as the pattern of the black keys. We will move and sing songs that help us with our finger numbers and learn about beat and rhythm while we play on the keys. We will finish our class with a goodbye song. The class is interactive, fun, and a great way to see if your child is ready for a piano class or piano lessons! No musical experience is necessary for this class. NOTE: while a piano would be very helpful for interacting with during this class, it is not absolutely necessary and a paper keyboard can be printed to use instead. A bit of room to move would also be helpful.
