Description
Class Experience
In this class, beginning ukulele students will learn to play "Surf". No prior knowledge is required, but the students need to already have their ukuleles tuned to the notes G, C, E and A. In the first class, students will learn the basics of playing the ukulele--how to hold their ukuleles and play basic chords. In the second class, students will learn the 6 chords used in "Surf" (C, F, G7, am, dm, D7). In the third class, we will learn the popular strum pattern used in "Surf" (Down, Down Up,...
I have taught this song to several ukulele classes and it is always a favorite. If the student can play it fast, it is a very impressive song to play for family and friends.
The students should practice between classes.
The students will need an ukulele that is already tuned to the notes G, C, E and A. I will provide a 1-page handout with the chord progression for "Surf" on it.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
