In this exciting course that combines gaming and learning, students will be problem solving a task in Minecraft and writing about their experience solving the problem. They will be building background knowledge for their writing and using that as evidence for the writing prompt. Each one-time class will have a new Minecraft task along with a new Minecraft writing prompt, and they will change every class! Your student will have the opportunity to watch me present a think-aloud going over...
In these one-time classes, students will improve their writing by writing paragraphs with complete sentences and citing evidence from their gaming experience!
I am an elementary school teacher based in California who has been teaching for the past 7 years. I have taught the Common Core State Standards for Reading, Math, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. I have been playing video games ever since I was a child.
There will be no homework assigned. All work is done in class.

The learner's progress will be assessed informally as they are writing. I will be assisting them to provide minor corrections and help guide them to become better writers!
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will need access to the Minecraft video game. Additionally, if they are able to open Google Document links, it will allow me to help improve their writing. They may also use pen and paper.
