Class Experience

Come join our Fake Sweets Bakery and let’s make sweet looking treats! Add to your play food collection or try making fake sweets for the first time, and meet new friends along the way!

We will be meeting once a week to make different kinds of faux sweets, including cupcakes, donuts, macarons, cake pops and more! There will be a total of 12 classes and on our last class we will have a fun tea party where bakers will be able to share their creations from the previous weeks while we sip some tea.

Our treats will be mostly made out of model magic clay, drywall putty and acrylic paint, but a full supply list will be available and sent out before each class.

Most sweets will be split into 2 classes: one to make them and one to decorate them. Each week we will go over all the steps together to either make our creations or decorate them, the weekly breakdown is listed below. Learners will be shown a couple ideas on how to decorate our treats, but are welcome to do their own design.

Learners are welcome to join at any point during our ongoing sessions, but preferably during a week where we create a sweet instead of decorating due to the fact that most of our treats are made of model magic clay and require some time to dry. Instructions on how to make the fake toppings will be provided to anyone who signs up after our first week.

Week 1 / February 20th to February 26th - Toppings + Donut Prep: We will be making a few toppings that we will use in a lot of our classes, such as our fake sprinkles, fake cherries, fake nuts. We will also be making our donuts out of clay to get them ready for decorating in our next class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Dee! I believe learning should be a positive experience and that is what I strive for in every one of my classes. I have a wide variety of topics I love teaching about - from arts and crafts, cooking and Spanish!

I was born in Mexico and moved to Canada when I was 12 years old. I usually try to visit Mexico once a year because I enjoy so many things about it, especially the food. I can also read, speak and write fluent Spanish. I have a diploma in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and I also hold a TESOL certificate.

When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my husband Mitch, and our two daughters, Victoria and Isabel. Fun fact: Victoria and Isabel have a 13 year age gap! We also have a sweet chihuahua named Bella. Our family enjoys doing a lot of activities together such as cooking, crafting, camping/hiking and planning our next travel adventure. We backpacked across Europe a few years ago and we are currently planning our next backpacking trip.

Let's have fun learning together!
