Description
Class Experience
Dungeons and Dragons is a role playing game, but more importantly it is a creative hobby. It is an entirely cooperative game, and unlike with a board game players take the role of characters. It is more akin to writing a collaborative novel, where each player writes the part of one character. NOTE: this class focuses on playing a role-playing game (traditionally with paper and pencils, but now online through a web site), NOT a video game. In this multi-session class each learner will create...
Learners will learn how the game is played by playing a game adventure. There are many rules in Dungeons and Dragons, but the learners will pick up the basics right away and be immersed in role-playing fun - the rest can come later.
I have been playing role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons since 1981, and have written and refereed countless adventures for all ages.

There are no supplies needed, but if the learners want to read on their own, the Dungeons and Dragons Players' Handbook is available to read online here: https://online.anyflip.com/ofsj/cxmj/mobile/index.html#p=1
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

4 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Although Dungeons and Dragons does involve simulated combat (using dice rolls), the emphasis of the game is creative storytelling, and we will avoid descriptions of violence.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses Roll20.net. Each player will need to have access to a computer and a roll20.net account (which is free to register and use , link below).
