Welcome to Play-doh play! Play-doh invites us to imagine and use our creativity in wonderfully hands on ways. This ongoing class gets our artistic and playful muscles working through a variety of activities! Each week will have a theme guiding our play-doh exploration. Some weeks, we will use play mats to create scenes. Some weeks, we will use unique tools to add interesting texture to our play-doh. The opportunities are endless. As this is an ongoing class, content does not build upon itself. Each class will begin with introductions and an ice breaker question. Then we will get to work creating with our play-doh! As we work, learners will guide the discussion as we talk about what we are creating, as well as fun events from our week or things that we enjoy. We will all have a chance to share our creations at the end of class. Here's our themes and activities broken down by week: Week of June 24: Plants Week of July 1: Weather Week of July 8: Insects Week of July 15: No class Week of July 22: Castles Week of July 29: Birthday Cake Week of August 5: No class Week of August 12: Music Week of August 19: Dinosaurs Week of August 26: Space

Teacher expertise and credentials
**Update: I am taking a hiatus from Outschool as I take care of some personal matters. Thank you to all of the learners and their families who have spent time with me learning and having fun.**
Hello everyone! My name is Miss April and I am so excited to be a part of the Outschool community! Here you will find that I love to have fun, be silly, and make learners laugh - all while learning at the same time. We do lots of crafts and hands-on activities while practicing math, literacy, and even social skills! I love hosting read alouds and book clubs for learners of all ages. I strive to engage a variety of learning styles and to create space for learners to interact with each other.
My background includes:
- Teaching Preschool at a brick and mortar school
- Serving families as a nanny: One child I cared for needed more structure and she was a little learning sponge so I created an at-home thematic curriculum that followed her interests, sparked a love of learning and reading and set her up for success at school! I also worked as a nanny when Covid shut down schools and was able to create play-based academic activities to keep those learning muscles working!
- Working in student ministry with learners grades 6-12
- Teaching ESL classes online, including a TESOL certification
All of these experiences have helped me grow in my passion for nurturing, empowering and educating learners of all ages.
Some fun things about me include:
1. I used to work at The Disney Store (and it was so much fun - I love Disney).
2. Eyeshadow palettes are a weakness of mine.
3. I have developed a love for birthday cake Oreos.
4. I have 2 kiddos.
5. I want to read all of the books and visit all of the places (let me know your favorite vacation destination when you enroll in a class)!
I cannot wait to meet you!
