Squishing, rolling, sculpting, molding . . . young children love to play with playdough. Add some props from around the home and playdough play becomes a powerful way to support your child’s learning. This simple playroom staple lets children use their imaginations and strengthen the small muscles in their fingers—the same muscles they will one day use to hold a pencil. Using playdough with you, a friend, siblings, or peers in our zoom class supports your child’s social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and enjoying being with other people. Playdough also encourages children’s language and literacy, science, and math skills—all at the same time! Creating with playdough lets children feel competent and proud of their accomplishments. Pounding, flattening, and squeezing are healthy and safe outlets for extra energy. They can also help children cope with strong feelings. When children seem stressed or angry, get out the playdough and props! Each class will be student-led with some prompts from the teacher if needed. We may cover themes such as farm animals, zoo animals, or play food - so each class can be very different! If this sounds like fun to you, then I would love to create with you soon in class. *Picture is from Adobe Stock Pictures

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lisa and I am so excited to be teaching for Outschool! As a mother to 5 children, ages 11 to 23, have modeled and taught life skills such as sewing, cooking, arts/ crafts, animal husbandry, and balancing a budget to name a few. For the past 10 years, I have taught in my local homeschooling co-ops, Sunday school classes, and various other community activities. I believe when you actively engage children through hands-on learning, learning becomes effortless!
I am also a homeschooling mom. I have educated my children from kindergarten up to grade 8. I have taught kindergarten which I have specialized in teaching phonics and letter recognition. As well as, science, word building, social studies, bible, and English literature.
Currently, I have been teaching ESL online for the last 3 years, to children in China ages 4 to 13 years. This experience has really helped me to be a more precise teacher. It is a great joy to see smiling faces as they learn and discover.
