*PLEASE SEE THE LEARNER SUPPLY LIST* Proof of Curriculum purchase must be shared with the teacher by the first week of our course meeting. In this 4 week course we will navigate the "Blossom and Root - Early Years, Volume 1" curriculum; specifically weeks 14-17. For our meeting times, Miss Courtney will provide a classroom environment through the use of a familiar routine and structure. We will start with a welcome song, the teacher will greet children by name, and a similar structure will occur at each meeting. I will use a white board to show the children what we will do each day. The curriculum we will follow covers several topics. Our meetings will follow the same structure, but each topic will vary by day. We will have about 10-15 minutes of direct instruction in each class; at this time learners will be muted. The teacher will make lessons as interactive as possible, but some parts may need to be 'muted.' Parents will have several activities to guide the rest of their day with the curriculum. Here is a 'sample' week of what 'in class' activities or instruction would look like a list of materials that would be needed to bring to class: Wednesday – The Arts. We will make shakers for your ‘music center.’ Please bring a paper plate/toilet paper roll/paper towel roll to make the shaker. Your child can bring rice or beans to fill it and might need your help to use tape or staples to keep it closed. Thursday – Read Together Time. We will read ‘The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog.’ You can bring play dough for your child to make ‘hot dogs’ while we read if they like to keep their hands busy while reading. Friday – Math & Science. Please bring 3 different pieces of fruit, we will use them to talk about ‘alike and different.’ "Do you long to provide your child with an experience that is joy-filled, low-pressure, and full of delight? We know. You want your child to fall in love with learning, right from the start. You want to nurture their hearts, as well as their minds. You want their days to be full of discovery and beauty, not repetitive drills and random workbook pages." (Blossom and Root) Each week, learners will be encouraged to share pictures or videos of the activities that are happening outside of our classroom. This will allow you to learn from what has worked for other families and is meant to build a community and be a helpful resource. My goal is to guide you through this processes, provide a community where children can make social connections with their classmates, and be a positive and uplifting teacher.
