Plants that Eat Things: A Look at Carnivorous Plants

Skye Myerson
Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(17)
In this one-time class, students will learn about three types of carnivorous plants and create their own teacher-led scientific drawing of a Venus fly trap.

Class experience

Students will be able to describe the features of three types of carnivorous plants which allow them to attract, capture, and break down prey.
Students will need a blank piece of paper and pencil for their drawing, plus optional colored pencils or crayons. Drawing experience is not required, but enthusiasm and willingness to participate is!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will be discussing a predator-prey relationship in nature as well as the decomposition of insects. There will not be overly graphic images, but those who are squeamish about insects may not enjoy this class.
