Class Experience
In this class we will learn about keeping and propagating succulent plants at home. We will look into the different types of succulents there are, how we can keep them and how we can make many copies of them for free to decorate our house and give away as presents! Every week the teacher will release one or more videos demonstrating and/or explaining the activities for the week, and there will be also a booklet with information to read and revise in between sessions. There will be show and tell opportunities and plenty of ideas to transform your house with lovely succulents. Students will be given ideas to create their own containers to gift their homegrown succulents, and then will have an opportunity to show their creations in the classroom and give each other advice. An important part of the interaction of the course will be sharing pictures of their plants online and giving and receiving advice from other learners about naming, care, propagation and decoration. Week 1: Introduction to the life of succulents. Types of succulents along with their scientific names in Latin. Location, soil types and general care. The perfect succulent nursery. Week 2: Show and tell. Collecting leaves and creating a space for propagation. Week 3: Show and tell of plants, leaves and their progress. Separating pups from motherplants. Soil. Week 4: Show and tell of plants, leaves and their progress. Getting ready to gift succulents: ideas and Q&A. Week 5: Show and tell of plants, leaves and their progress. Homemade succulent up-cycled containers with materials we all have at home. Week 6: Show and tell of plants, leaves and their progress. Recap on all the different plants we have met so far and their original natural environments.

Students will learn about caring for plants, propagating them and present them beautifully to gift as presents.

Supply List
Students will need one or two succulent plants from which to take leaves - they are inexpensive in most supermarkets, but they can also ask around for cuttings to family, neighbours or friends. Some soil will be needed; this can be succulent soil or all purpose soil to which we can add additional bits like stones or sand to make it better for the plants. Scissors will be useful for small tasks, but shears and other sharp tools will need to be used under supervision of a grown up. Optionally, students may want to get more advanced elements at the discretion of the grown up. This includes perlite, horticultural grit, activated charcoal, decorative stones, a glue gun, building and shaping tools, and similar elements.

My name is Ana and I love making the world of ancient languages accessible for all. I work as a full time specialist of Latin and Greek. I speak several languages and I am always on the go learning a new one - at the moment I am working on some Modern Greek!
I have a degree in Classical Philology (Greek, Latin and Classical Civilisation) from the University of Barcelona, and I hold qualified teacher status both in the UK and in Spain. I used to work as the Head of a Classics department and I am still heavily involved in the Classics community, but now I work from my home office (and my kitchen!) by the River Thames, from where I can reach students across the world.
I think learning should be hands-on, and I will teach you about the Romans and Greeks using plenty of images, getting you to cook and singing along to catchy tunes. I believe we learn about the past by using all our senses, and I always try to get students feeling rather than just learning about the subject.
