Plant Life is Gorgeous! Come Create Raku Insects...for Scouts & Nature Learners

Class
Have heaps of fun while learning to trust our artsy intuition when creating art insects inspired by the artist Raku Inoue and his Reikan Creations. Oh yes, we will also practice & improve our level of patience when learning new things.

Class Experience

The Top Three Outcomes are all centered around Fun! Fun! Fun!

Also, the philosophy of helping the learner to develop the best mix of learning by listening, conversation, and doing skills necessary when trying any new or difficult thing in life...

1. I can forage in nature and talk about where flowers are present in my home or outdoor spaces with other learners in the class.

2. I can use my imagination to have fun experimenting with different flower materials as I create "Natura Art" for my journal.

3. I can create original poetry - and show it off during our Open Mic (if I feel like sharing).

Hello! I am Teacher Martha! I have been a credentialed classroom teacher for more than 30 years and I still love teaching! When I was six years old I became a girl scout, there is a saying “Once a Girl Scout, ALWAYS a Girl Scout!”

I love helping to build confident life-long learners who make the world a better place.

As a teacher and a former Girl Scout Troop Leader, I believe that learners who are enjoying themselves during class are going to be more engaged and ultimately learn more. So, having fun is at the core of all my classes!
Learners will be encouraged to continue adding more nature items, poems, or stories to their journals.
Note: Students may get messy. A protected work area is recommended. Sketchbook, journal, or blank paper Pencil or pen Paper towel or rag Flowers and small items found in nature (artificial flowers or flower paper cut-outs may be used) Bowl or plate to collect nature items Optional: Assorted colored markers, pencils, gel pens Optional: Scissors Optional: Glue stick Optional: Tweezers Optional: Plastic/Paper bag or jars to storage nature specimen(s) Optional: Access to phone or camera for taking nature or flower photos
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners will be encouraged to engage in self-assessment of their poetry and conduct mindful reflection of the items included in their journals. This could mean writing drafts or their works ( or adding to their written pieces) as they practice the skill of hearing their voice as writers, and learning more about art in nature.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
A few clips from the internet or Youtube may be shown if time permits. These clips will focus on allowing our learners to listen while seeing flowers (art) in nature, or journaling and poetry.
