Class Experience

In this class, we will go on a virtual journey from the Sun to all of the planets in our solar system. There will be some physical activity (mostly walking in place as we go from planet to planet) and we'll learn about:
• the scale of the solar system
• fascinating information about each planet
• extension activities
My teaching style is active and engaging. I'll be asking the students to move and interact during the lesson, but I'll also share facts and data about the planets. I will provide follow-up resources at the end of class! No prior knowledge or experience is required for this class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings! I have almost twenty years of experience as an educator, both in the classroom and in alternative settings. I teach science classes, including project-based STEM/STEAM classes, on topics such as space science, earth science, ecology, and physical sciences.

I received my B.S. in Communications from New York University, and my Master's in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Additionally, I have current Professional Licensure in the state of Massachusetts, plus Elementary II Montessori certification. I have extensive classroom experience, plus many years teaching and directing outdoor education programs. I’m even a graduate of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Space Academy for Educator’s program! What an amazing experience that was!

I believe in making my teaching holistic, creative, and engaging. I teach the whole child, and try to engage students by making learning differentiated and relevant to their lives.

When I'm not teaching, you can find me singing with my rock choir, enjoying nature, and hanging out with my two amazing kids (who are five and nine). I hope to see you in my classroom soon!
