During this lesson, learners will work with me and the group to plan their dream trip to Japan after learning about trip planning and the tools used. Students will NOT end class with a complete itinerary in most cases as it takes weeks/months to plan a trip, but this will get them in the right direction with the tools they need. Day 1 Will consist of myself showing students the tools I use when making my itineraries for all my trips. Walking them through the itinerary layouts and how to get to that point. Then we'll talk about Japan specific attractions, food, safety, etc. In between classes students should start their research on where they want to go in Japan. Which, I will provide some resources. Day 2 Will consist of the students really digging into the planning of their own dream trips. This is when they will be able to rely on my experience of Japan to ask questions and for guidance on the next steps. Now that they have some research done, the questions should be more specific to their trip and less general. Of course both are ok, as Day 2 is about getting them on the right track so that they can plan their Japan trips safely without me and have a new skill they can use in life for the many adventures after. Day 3 We will go over last minute very important items to not forget and some dos and don'ts of Japan. CLASS STRUCTURE: All students will be expected to contribute, as there will be a lot of discussions and planning. This is a comfortable, non-stressful environment to get used to speaking in front of a group. But if a student is shy, I will work with them and they will never be purposefully embarrassed. CLASS CONTENT: We will work through the steps of planning a trip, including finding flights, choosing places to visit, transportation, accommodations, and the all important cultural tips. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE: None, although this class would be more enjoyable for students interested either in Japan or travel. *New Outschool Policy* - to keep your children safe as a teacher I must see/do one of the following: 1. The learner’s video is enabled throughout the class 2. The learner connects with me via video at the beginning of class, to allow me to verify the learner’s identity (the learner can then disable video after her check in) 3. A “verified” badge appears next to the learner’s name in my class roster. If a learner has a verified badge, they are cleared to have their video off during class and have been verified by a member of our team-- check with Outschool team if this option is needed.
Learning Goals

Students will NOT end class with a complete itinerary as it takes weeks/months to plan a trip, but this will get them in the right direction with the tools they need.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Being a world traveler, Japan is one of the many beautiful countries that I have been lucky enough to have visited multiple times. I have done extensive research of Japan as I was going to live there while teaching ESL in local schools. Covid-19 kept me from doing that for now, but I have studied for many years about the culture as it was going to be my new home and have witnessed the culture first hand in my many trips to the country.
