Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this 3 day class, learners will go in-depth into understanding Place Value and the Base 10 number system. In the first session, we will dive into the places and values of numbers. We will explore how each place relates to the other places in our Base 10 number system. In session two, we will use what we learned about place value to practice our skills with adding multiple 3-digit numbers. Students will be encouraged to explain the "why" when we are adding and regrouping. Finally in...
By the end of session one, students should be able to name digits in the ones, tens, and hundreds places. Students should be able to explain the value associated with a digit in a specific place. Students should also be able to successfully identify the place of a named digit within a given number. By the end of session two, students should be able to model, solve, and explain adding up to 3-digit numbers. By the end of session two, students should be able to model, solve, and explain subtracting up to 3-digit numbers.

A practice handout will be provided for students to complete after each session. This is optional, but encouraged.
