Mnemonics like "PEMDAS" are helpful in learning math concepts. Well here's an original Mr. Marcus created mnemonic "MADSPPM" which will help students master many of the properties of exponents. Learners will identify and be able to apply the exponent rules that allow us to re-write and simplify algebraic expressions with exponents, specifically the product rule, the quotient rule, and the power of a product rule. Learn how the mnemonic "Mothers Agree Dominos Supreme Pepperoni Pizzas on Mondays" will solidify and help with the understanding of these properties. As an added bonus we take a close look at the "Doubling Penny Problem", an excellent way to understand the power (no pun intended) of exponential functions.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of exponential functions and be able to apply many of the properties of exponents.
