Preventive health wasn't very popular with pirates. We'll get a first-hand perspective of what went wrong and some sound advice on how to prevent many of the ailments and injuries that could still plague us now. We'll mix history and health on this epic voyage! Students are welcome to be in character as we explore the nutrient deficiencies pirates faced and the food choices that could have prevented them. We'll talk about how these are relevant to our current diets and what we can do to be healthier than our buccaneer buddies. Students will learn about the specific nutrients missing from the average pirate diet. They'll learn about the effects of nutrient deficiencies and the foods that can prevent them. This class is full of fun, relatable information that puts the importance of nutrition into perspective.
