Pirate Writing for Eager and Reluctant Writers
In this 4 week writing course, both eager and reluctant writers will learn to write like a pirate! Pirates have hooks, patches, and a stubby wooden leg. What does that have to do with writing? Well Skally-wags, let's find out!

Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Writers will learn proper writing structure, how to write informational texts, descriptive paragraphs, stories, and more based a pirate character. A Pirate Writing Journal will help students keep all their learning and writing together in one place. Our class will be structured as follows: 5 minutes WELCOME! Let's get to know each other 5 minutes Introduction activity 10 minutes Direct instruction using lecture, discussion and visuals. 8 minutes Writing with the teacher. 10 minutes. Write your own. For this portion of class, students should try to write as much as they can in 10 minutes following the same structure as demonstrated and discussed. If a student does not finish, it's ok! At least they have started! Finishing for homework is up to each family's family's preference. 2 minute closing.
I have my degree in Elementary Education, with a certification in Media and English Language Arts. I have taught for over 25 years in as a home schooling mom and as an online and brick and mortar school teacher. ELA is my specialty! I love teaching kids to write and finding creative ways to spark their interest and motivating them to become even better writers than they already are!
All of our writing will be done in class, unless a student would like to write more on their own.
A writer's journal that is custom made by me, will be provided. Learners will just need a pencil!
