Class Experience

This class meets once a week for 40 minutes at a time. It is an ongoing course on an 10 week long rotation. Learners have the opportunity to "jump in" at any time, regardless of the week, and may complete as many classes as they wish, as we will be learning a variety of new animals each class. Because this is an ongoing course, your learner will be automatically enrolled each week (like a subscription) until you choose to cancel, which you may do at any time.

Each class will begin with an ice-breaker question so students can get to know a little bit about their fellow learners and to create a friendly, comfortable atmosphere where students can enjoy creating and making new friends. We will share any previous experience we have with creating art from pipe cleaners, and students may have the opportunity to share any previously created pieces to help inspire fellow learners.

We will focus on creating several animals each week from pipe cleaners. Students will have the opportunity to create as much or as little as they desire in class. They may focus on one particular piece, or they may choose to create many different pieces! My goal is for each and every student to learn how to create something new and to have fun in class. I will walk students through some (or all) of the animals from the list, depending on time permitting. Each learner will have the option to join in creating the animal I demonstrate, or they may choose to create their own variation and put their own "twist" on it.

At the end of class, learners will have the opportunity to share their creations with their fellow learners and to explain any variations they made, if they so choose. Hopefully by the end of class, each student will feel proud and accomplished by their art and inspired to continue creating.

The course schedule for the months of September-November is as follows:

Week of:

February 12: Elephants
February 19: Bears (Panda, Teddy, and Koala)
February 26: Lizards and Snakes

March 5: Bunnies and Chicks
March 12: Turtles and Penguins
March 19: Butterflies and Caterpillars
March 26: Tigers

April 2: Bees, Bugs, and Flowers
April 9: Mice and Peacocks
April 16: Fire Breathing Dragon
April 23: Lions
April 30: Parrots and Penguins

May 7: Dogs and Cats
May 14: Lobsters and Turtles

On the week of May 21, this schedule will start again, allowing learners the opportunity to take any classes they missed or any they enjoyed enough to take again and continue creating!

I hope to see you in class!

Hi! My name is Rebecca, and I am an elementary school teacher, having taught students from Kindergarten all the way to 5th Grade for the past 7 years. I absolutely love teaching!

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree is Special Education Studies. I am married to my wonderful husband, Andrew, and we just had our first child, Daniel, in July 2019. I am so blessed to be able to stay home with Daniel while teaching wonderful students online!

I want to be able to help children succeed in their academics. I want them to not just tolerate learning, but to grow to love it. I try to make all of my classes interactive and fun to help promote a positive attitude toward whatever subject is being taught (and learned!).

I hope to see you in class!
