Class Experience

The learner will walk away with a "taste" of what the pilates method looks and feels like. Pilates is similar to yoga, as there are many exercises that focus on full-body movement. 

At times, there will be a focus on breathwork, alignment of the body, exercises to strengthen the belly and back, exercises to strengthen the arms and legs, and exercises that focus on stretching. Additionally, there will be creative movement activities to engage learners' imaginations as they further develop their body awareness.

During the class, the instructor will do her best to offer different ways to do a particular exercise to fit the needs of the mover, as there is always more than one version to do each exercise.

The hope is the learner will walk away feeling energized and confident, ready to tackle their next part of their day!
With over twenty years of experience staging, choreographing, teaching, and coaching budding musical theater performers, I have also mentored many creative tweens and teens as they explored their leadership skills by giving them ample opportunity to choreograph, direct, and/or teach alongside me. 

The goal always is to give them "real-life" application experiences so they may discover the many opportunities their artistic abilities could lead them.  I started as a triple threat performer, have performed and choreographed all over the country, and my undergrad degree is in dance, musical theater, and education. 

Building skill and confidence in young performers and creatives is my passion and my hope is to help them shine big, bold, and bright both on and off stage. 
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Notes about the class:

Please fill out the health waiver included in the welcome email ASAP. Make sure to get it back to me at least 1 hour before class starts. (It's best to get it back to me 24 hours prior to class. This ensures I have adequate time to review it.)

There may be brief times the class includes basic movement. Just to be fully prepared, even if not utilized, please provide an open workout space free of any items that could potentially trip or cause the learner to slip.

Please encourage your learner to wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in such as yoga pants, sweat pants, t-shirts, slip-free socks, bare feet, etc.

Please have a water bottle close by in case your learner feels they need something to drink.

While I will be providing movement instruction and modifications that are designed for beginners, adult supervision is still highly recommended and advisable.
