Class Experience

Pilates will benefit the younger student athlete by helping them develop core strength, balance, stability and resilience, both in and out of their sport. Anyone recovering from most common types of injuries can participate as well*. This fun but focused class uses household items such as throw pillows and beach towels to help students grow their mind-body connection while enhancing their future performance.

Class starts with a chat about injuries participants may have, a brief meditation to become present in the class, followed by fun and age-appropriate variations of traditional Pilates exercises. Every class will include a healthy dose of core strengthening, stability, flexibility, proprioception and fun.

HI! I love to learn and I love to teach. My favorite subject is....everything. I have been a mind/body instructor for 20 years and am certified to teach Pilates, Poolates, group fitness, meditation, mindfulness, Spinning, and myofascial release (MFR). I have even trained other fitness instructors in the Poolates method that I innovated. I am also trained in acupressure and cognitive behavioral therapy and hold advanced degrees in law and public health, with an undergraduate degree in anthropology. Before I began my career as a mind/body instructor in the 2000’s, I worked in all three branches of government. I love teaching and helping people train and heal themselves, but still my favorite job is raising my two twice - exceptional kids. I believe in asking questions and looking for connections. And in dessert. Especially dessert. My favorite dessert is bread pudding. What’s yours?
