Pilates for Tween Athletes
Class experience
Because kids learn and grow differently, this class is designed to meet the “middle aged” kids where they are at. Students will learn the principles of Pilates in a fun workout, paying extra attention to control and body awareness and positioning. Each class will focus on a subset of the principles of Pilates including awareness and proprioception, breathing, centering, control, precision, fluidity, balance, stability and flexibility. I have been studying and teaching Pilates for over 20 years and have presented mind-body workshops at conferences nationwide. I also ran my own instructor certification program, and train two competitive figure skaters. I make it fun and relaxing, but don't let that fool you - it’s still a great workout!
Towel, small throw pillow, water bottles or hand weights or soup cans - anything that weighs about a pound for each hand.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I want everyone to have a safe and effective class experience. To that end, going forward, I am requiring all students to have their cameras on themselves at all times throughout the class. I will put any student without a camera in the waiting room. If there is an actual technical difficulty and a parent/guardian informs me of the issue, I can make an exception for that day, This is for everyone’s safety and fairness.
