Class Experience

This is a Pilates mat class taught by a Physical Therapist focuses on muscles and techniques to improve posture. In this fitness class learners will work on core strength, alignment and breathing techniques using the Pilates method. We will start with a warm up and then learn and practice 10-15 Pilates exercises. Students will end the class feeling stretched and stronger. Each week the class will be a unique workout focused on postural muscles. The workout will include Pilates strength exercises and stretches. The content of this class will be adjusted to meet the needs of participants each week. Below are examples of themes:

Week 1: core strength and stretching the upper back
Week 2: strengthening the extensor muscles of the spine
Week 3: flexibility of hips and core strength
Week 4: abdominal strength and lengthening the spine in vertical positions

The teacher will demonstrate and explain each exercise. She provides encouraging feedback to help students perform the exercises safely and correctly. We will challenge ourselves to gain strength, flexibilty and coordination. This class is great for learners who spend extended periods of time on a device or leaning over a desk.
