In this one time class, students will draw different kinds of food items from observation and imagination, learning about composition and color as they do.
Class experience
After taking inspiration from still life paintings and drawings, learners will look at photographs of typical picnic foods, and, using observation and drawing demos, will fill their page with drawings of sandwiches, watermelon, apples, cookies, and more. I will be asking to see their drawings periodically and making suggestions to achieve the most successful composition. Once the entire page looks interesting, we will begin adding color. We will finally learn how to choose a background color...
Students will need white paper (a sketchbook or white copy paper), a pencil, an eraser, and either crayons or colored pencils.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
