Would you rather be playing videos right now? Let me guess. You worked hard at school all day so that you could enjoy a couple of minutes of downtime getting to play online with friends. Am I right? What if you could talk about your favorite games AND become a stronger writer? How about making new friends and laughing at the silly, zany ideas you create together during each class? If this sounds like fun to you, please join me each week as we look at some of the more popular video games out there. During class, a picture will be presented from the video game of the week. Together, we will put together an outline using the IEW Key Word Outline format. From there, you will create a paragraph telling the story of what is happening in the picture. But the fun doesn't stop there! Each week, you will get a list of perspectives that you will be using to write your paragraph. You might choose the perspective of an Imposter, Crewmate, or Game Designer for Among Us. In Minecraft, you may be telling the story from Steve, the Creeper, or a sheep's point of view. (Don't worry, I have way more ideas up my sleeve.) Below are the upcoming video games we will be writing about. Please note that additional weeks will be added at least two weeks out. Students are welcome to offer age-appropriate suggestions for future weeks. As a registered IEW instructor, I teach the structure and style while allowing learners to use their own creativity to create the content.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English from University of Tennessee - Knoxville
While I am not a professional gamer by trade (I wish I had known that was an option when I was ten), I do enjoy spending time with learners playing, chatting, and socializing. As an English teacher and a registered instructor with IEW, I have a love for teaching learners about classic literature and strengthening their writing skills in fun and unique ways. (Link for verification: https://iew.com/events-classes/instructors/find-accredited-instructor/330449)
I am also a certified TESOL/TEFL/EYL teacher, professional writer, beta reader, proofreader, editor, and homeschool mom. I have a love for the English language (I have a BA in English to prove it), the smell of new books, and transferring ideas from mind to paper. My goal is to promote a love of learning while offering a safe and fun environment. I truly have a passion for reading and writing and would love to share my knowledge and experience with your children.
