Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Inspiration for writing can come from anywhere even a picture.

At the start of each class a Creative Writing tip will be shared to help learners followed by a picture of an object or setting that they must use somewhere in the story. They will then spend the majority of class writing whatever they like based on the prompt. Learners can continue with a story from the previous week or start a new one.

Any and all genres of writing are encouraged and welcomed. Towards the end of class learners can share with the rest of the class what they have written if they wish. Learners can also submit what they've written to the teacher if they like before during or after class for editing and/or feedback.

Please note, there will be no or little instruction for the writing process in this class. This class is a creative outlet for learners and to give them ideas for their own writing. If they want feedback or editing on something they have written they can submit it to the teacher.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a former Home School student who has never stopped learning! I love history and telling stories verbally and through writing, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe the statement is true: “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” We need to learn from the past to shape our own futures and the world in general. I believe the best way to learn about history is to learn about the people who lived through it and what they experienced and tell their stories. I love telling stories through writing and enjoy public speaking, so storytelling is a natural combination of the two.

I have 4 years of teaching experience in a variety of places from teaching/coaching drama and dance for homeschoolers in a group setting, to homeschooling two young children for a few months, to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) to college students, to teaching Arts and Crafts at a Summer Camp. I am currently a ESL teacher online with VIPKid. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication from Stevenson University.

I love to travel both in the US and internationally. I’ve spent time in almost every state on the East Coast and driven through the rest. I’ve visited seven different countries and lived in Asia for 17 months.
