In this ongoing 25-minute ESL class, English language learners will practice their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through the use of high-quality picture book read-alouds.

Class Experience

Learning a new language can be intimidating, but it doesn't have to be!  In this ongoing ESL course, students who are learning the English language  will have a chance to read, write, speak, and listen to English after participating in a picture book being being read aloud.  The high-quality, engaging stories we read will have students excited and wanting to talk about they are learning!  While reading, we will make predictions about the story, and discuss the characters, setting, and plot. ...

Students will improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through the use of high-quality picture books.

I have been teaching ELL students, first in the brick-and-mortar classroom, and then more recently as an online teacher for a total of 11 years.

Students should come to class with paper and a pencil. Some weeks I might post a graphic organizer that students can print to bring to class (this is optional).

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
