Beginner Level
In this one-time class, learners will read a story written by me, the teacher, about a horse named Pickles. Before reading, we will go over important words seen throughout the story. Some of the words will have pictures under them to help new readers remember the words. Learners will be encouraged to take turns reading the story, however, if they wish to just follow along and listen that is fine too. The story has short repetitive sentences for learners to become familiar with the words and the structure of the sentences. The story is about different items found at the beach. We will discuss the different items and their colors. The story is presented as a slide show so that it is visually easy for all learners to see the words and pictures throughout the class. At the end of the story, we will answer short comprehension questions about the story. This class is kept to a small group, (up to 3 learners) so that everyone has a chance to read and speak if they wish to. I will give positive encouragement and help them to read as needed. Other students may be muted until it is their turn to speak or read. This class is great for learners beginning to read. This class is great for ESL learners Level A1 * Parents are welcome, but please sit off-camera per Outschool's rules. *If your learner is the only one enrolled, the class may end a few minutes early. Please keep in mind that they will be getting individualized attention and all material will be covered.
